PEER
LEARNING
GROUPS

Peer learning is proving beneficial, not just for students but also for adults. This plan calls for developing and offering community members an opportunity to learn from each other. Studies show student’s learning improves when the teacher has the ability to learn and observe other experienced teachers. Applying the principles of peer learning, we invite adult allies to share their areas of expertise with others, strategies for family engagement, motivating students and innovate ways to connect with youth. Peer learning activities, like tutoring or assessment are said to improve skill development for youth and deepen learning. Providing experiences for peer learning outside of the classroom (virtual or in person), provides different contexts for learning and can enhance mastery of subject matter, through discussion and exchange of ideas.
